XXL Alkanet ceramic pebble dish
Deep within us, rocks hold an instinctive appeal, much like our primal draw to fire. These elements have shaped human evolution, making our attraction to stones a natural part of our being.
When considering moulds, I chose a pebble, its natural, round yet irregular form mirrors my ethos and the forager’s eye for nature’s designs. These are pebbles from Devon, where I grew up.
We are often drawn to smooth, symmetrical shapes with gentle energy, and beach stones embody gratitude, kindness, and subtle harmony.
Alkanet carries its own quiet magic. Long associated with protection, grounding, and truth, it has been used for centuries as a plant of colour, healing, and transformation. Its deep red roots were once prized for natural dyes, symbolising the hidden strength that lies beneath the surface, the unseen layers of self, memory, and earth.
Spiritually, alkanet is linked to rootedness, ancestral connection, and the courage to speak with clarity. It embodies the balance between the physical and the mystical: a plant that works in the soil yet offers colour, medicine, and meaning. Found along old paths and wild edges, it reflects resilience, creativity, and the importance of honouring what lies beneath — the roots that nourish growth, identity, and belonging.
