Japanese Anemone XL Ceramic Pebble Dish (Seconds)
*Slight crack in one corner very small - glaze didn’t come out how I intended - was supposed to be white but on the black clay it has come out brown.

✦ Deep within us, rocks hold an instinctive appeal, much like our primal draw to fire. These ancient elements have shaped human evolution, making our attraction to stones feel almost instinctive.
✦ When creating my pebble dishes, I chose to work from real pebbles because their natural, rounded yet irregular forms mirror my ethos and my forager’s eye for nature’s designs. These original pebbles were collected from Devon, where I grew up, giving each dish a little connection to the landscape that shaped me.
✦ We are often drawn to smooth, organic shapes with gentle energy, and beach stones embody a sense of grounding, gratitude, kindness and quiet harmony.
✦ Impressed into this XL ceramic pebble dish is the delicate leaf of a Japanese anemone. Japanese anemones are associated with resilience, protection and the changing seasons, flowering as summer begins to give way to autumn. Their elegant leaves and late-season blooms feel like a beautiful reminder that there is magic in transition and in embracing change.
✦ This dish has been handmade using black clay with a white glaze. During firing, the dark clay has altered the glaze, creating a warmer brown-toned finish rather than the crisp white I originally intended.
✦ Because the colouring is not quite what I had envisioned, I have chosen to place this piece in my Super Seconds sale. It is still completely handmade and entirely unique — an unexpected variation created by the alchemy of clay, glaze and fire.
A beautifully imperfect piece for holding jewellery, crystals, little treasures or whatever you choose to gather within it. ✦
